  Downloading / Installing KidControl

Q: I was unable to download KidControl fully or I lost my connection. How can I download the registered version of KidControl again?
A: Go to our Download page on our web site www.kidcontrol.com. There is no difference between the demo and the registered user download. Having a valid serial number makes it become registered on your computer.

Q: If I am upgrading to a newer version of KidControl, what about the current version running?
A: Just install the newer version over the older version and restart your computer when it is complete.

Q: How do I un-install KidControl from my computer?
A: Access KidControl through KPANEL and click the Setup button. Next, select the Add/Remove From Windows button and select to remove it from Windows. Restart your computer.

Access / Setup KidControl

Q: After I have KidControl installed, how do I access it?
A: Click Programs / Run and enter KPANEL. Click OK. At the login window enter KIDCONTROL as the default password.

Q: How do I change settings such as email notifications, screen captures, etc.?
A: Click the Setup button under the calendar. Then select what you want to setup by clicking one of the buttons on the left side of the window. When all changes are made, be sure to restart your computer.

Q: When I try to login to KidControl it says my password is wrong. How can I fix this?
A: Go to our web site at www.kidcontrol.com and download KidControl again. The password will be reset back to the default of KIDCONTROL.

Recording / Viewing Activity

Q: How long is the activity saved on my computer for viewing?
A: It will be saved for 90 days. After that it is automatically deleted.

Q: Can I save the captured activity to my computer as a file?
A: Yes. On all screens where activity is viewed there is a Save button. Click this button and enter the path and filename to save it as. Then use any editor to view the file. It is saved as a text file.

Q: Can I print the captured activity without using the Print Screen button?
A: Yes. On all screens where activity is viewed there is a Print button.

Q: KidControl is not capturing activity from one of my programs.
A: First make sure you have the latest version of KidControl installed on your computer. If you do, check the program you are monitoring to see if it is the latest version. We generally support the latest versions of software such as AIM, Yahoo Messenger, etc. If your still having trouble, submit a support ticket with the program name and the exact version of the software along with all other helpful information.

Instant Notification Of Captured Activity By Email

Q: How does this feature work?
A: When an email is read/composed or an IM conversation is complete, an exact copy of the email or conversation is instantly sent to your email account to be read by you.

Q: My child is chatting with someone right now and I have not received a copy in my email. Why?
A: The conversation is not sent to your email until the IM window is closed. For example, if they are chatting using AIM, the online conversation is always being recorded but will not be sent to your email account until the AIM IM window is closed which means the conversation is over.

Q: Sometimes I do not receive all IMs in my email. Why?
A: A few different reasons can cause this. If the computer goes offline or is turned off with the IM window still open it will not be sent. Or some email accounts will not send several emails at once to prevent possible spam.

Q: I am not getting any instant notifications in my email account. Why?
A: If you do not receive any, check the following. First, go into KPANEL and make sure it is setup for instant email notification. Then check the email settings. Use the Test Email button to make sure they are set right. Then restart your computer. Also check to make sure KidControl is set to monitor that computer user in the Monitor Which Users. And check the Times To Monitor settings.

Q: Can I choose what information I want to be sent to my email account?
A: Yes. In the setup you can choose if you want IMs, Email, etc. sent to your email account.

Q: What if I am using AOL as my internet provider? They do not give me SMTP mail settings for sending email notifications.
A: If your internet provider does not offer SMTP service, there are places on the internet that allows you to subscribe for this. We will have a list of available SMTP service providers available soon but until then do a search for the keywords "SMTP provider" or "SMTP subscription".

Viewing Computer Desktop Live Through Your Web Browser

Q: How does this feature work?
A: When the computer you are monitoring goes online, an email is sent to you with a URL link to click. It loads a web page that gives a screen shot of the desktop of the other computer. It also has other features such as captured keystrokes and more. You can click to refresh the desktop screen capture anytime.

Q: I receive the URL but I cannot access the web page. Why?
A: A couple reasons can cause this. If you have never been able to access the computer desktop this way, the computer may be behind a router or a firewall. If this is the case, it will need to be setup on that computer's end to allow this feature to work. We cannot offer this support unfortunately. Next, be sure you are using Internet Explorer as the browser to view the desktop in. And last, the computer may already be offline.

Q: When I click to refresh the desktop image, I get the same image and I know it has changed. Why?
A: For some reason your browser is using the image in its cache instead of the new image of the desktop. Try holding down the Shift button and clicking Refresh in the web browser. If that does not work, close the web browser and open it again and try.

Q: I keep getting a black screen as the desktop. Why?
A: Probably the computer being monitored has a screen saver or has gone into a power saving mode when it is not being used.

KidControl Remote Service

Q: What is KidControl remote?
A: It allows you to view all captured activity using any other computer with web access anytime of the day.

Q: Does it cost extra to use?
A: Yes. Because we are uinsg special servers to handle the large amounts of captured data, there is a small subscription fee which you can cancel at any time.

Q: Can I try this first?
A: Yes. Log into your KidControl account online and select to start your trial of KidControl remote. It does not cost anytime to try. If you want to continue using the service, then subscribe anytime.

Q: Does the computer I am monitoring have to be on to view the activity?
A: No. You login at our web site anytime to view the activity.

Q: I have started using KidControl Remote and I do not see any activity online. Why?
A: First, make sure the remote service is turned on in your KidControl account. Next, be sure you have restarted your computer after turning it on. You can also go into KPANEL and test the remote service.

Q: How long is the captured activity available online?
A: It will remain online to be viewed for 25 days before it is automatically deleted.

Q: Can I save the activity I am viewing online?
A: Yes. You can copy/paste it to another program such as Notepad. Or you can use the Print button in your web browser.

Ordering KidControl

Q: I never received my serial number when I placed my order.
A: Submit a support ticket with your name as it was ordered, the date and time the order was placed along with your email address used at the time of the order. Web will check the order and send your serial and order information to you as soon as possible.

Q: Can I save KidControl to a CD?
A: Yes. Just download the latest version and burn it to a CD. Remember, the download is the same as a demo until your serial number is entered to register it. The latest download of KidControl is always available on our web site and is free to download and upgrade anytime.

Q: Can I use KidControl on more than one computer?
A: Yes but you will need a different serial number for each computer you want to monitor.

Q: How fast can I register KidControl after I place my order?
A: Immediately! When your order is instantly processed online, you are provided with a serial number along with your KidControl online account login.

Update KidControl

Q: How do I tell if there is a new version of KidControl available?
A: Run KPANEL and look at the bottom of the window for the version you are running. Then compare that to the version on our Download page.

Q: Does it cost anything to upgrade to a newer version?
A: No. All updates are free.

Q: How do I update my KidControl?
A: Download the latest version of KidControl from the Download page. Then restart your computer. Check the settings in KPANEL to confirm they are still the same. A new install make reset some to the default settings. Make sure you restart your computer again after all settings have been changed.

Serial / Password

Q: I forgot my password for logging in my KidControl account online.
A: Use the link on the same page called Forgot Password. Then enter your email address and it will be sent to your email address.

Q: My email account has changed and I need my serial or login information. What now?
A:
Click here and enter the information about your order to confirm your identity so we can send you your login information.

Q: I forgot my serial number.
A: Log into your KidControl online account to retrieve your serial number.

Becoming A Reseller Of KidControl

Q: Do I need a web site to become a reseller?
A: No. We can provide a web site for you. You choose your store name and the web site URL will be http://YourStoreName.kidcontrol.com. We maintain the web site for you. All you do is promote your own web site to sell KidControl!

Q: How much money can I make?
A: It is endless! The more you promote the web site, the more sales you will generate.

Q: What is the commission of each sale that I make?

Q: Can an organization such as a school or PTA sell KidControl as a fundraiser?
